Andros Island
Andros is 104 miles long and is the largest of all the Bahamian Islands. It has a well-earned reputation for bonefishing. The average bonefish here is 5-7lbs with many at 10lbs, and the flats also support jacks, tarpon and barracuda. The sheltered waters of the reef are 6 to 15 feet deep on average, but eventually drop off into the depths of the Tongue of the Ocean. Geologists think that this area was once a prehistoric riverbed, similar to the Grand Canyon in Arizona.

Blue holes, found both inland and in the ocean waters off the island's coast, were formed by water erosion and flooding at the end of the last ice age. The oceanic holes connect to the intricate inland underwater cave system. As the tides rush in and out, ideal feeding grounds are formed for the creatures of The Bahamas. Andros is home to an underwater world of prolific and diverse marine life

Snorkelling is included in your holiday and expert tuition and the services of the resorts’ guides are free to all our guests. The shallower waters just off Tiamo are an ideal training and hunting ground for beginners - you’ll find sea-cucumbers and sponges, starfish and sea-fans among a myriad of colourful creatures, all very easy to spot in the crystal-clear waters.
After just one lesson from the Nature Concierge Team you will be skimming happily across the gin-clear waters of the South Bight in one of the resorts totally stable and easy to handle trimarans.
