Great Inagua
Inagua is a southern island sixty miles northeast of Cuba where large bones cruise the white sand flats and large tarpon and permit maraud the shallow waters in search of their prey.
There is an endless supply of crystal clear flats that can be fished easily by a poled skiff or simply wading and stalking. The local guide is extremely knowledgeable and can put you within casting range of bonefish and the illusive permit. Tarpon fishing generally takes place at Lake Windsor where you will be able to try your luck for tarpon in the 20-60lb range. It is not uncommon to catch 8-10 big bonefish during a day's fishing and you may well hook into a 'double digit' fish which have been known to be in excess of 14lbs.
If you are interested in birds Great Inagua is home to 80,000 West Indian flamingos. Matthew Town is the island's main town.
