Brown and Rainbow Trout

Alberta and the magnificent Rockies need little introduction.  Our holidays have been put together with the fisherman in mind, but knowing that anyone visiting this part of the world will naturally want to combine fishing with touring the Rockies.

FISHING IN ALBERTA
We offer fishing in the following areas:
Bow River, Banff National Park, Jasper National Park, Crowsnest Pass
GUIDING
Go Fishing Worldwide has the most experienced guides for fishing the Bow River in Calgary and Banff, as well as rivers and lakes in the Jasper area and Crowsnest Pass.  Many people fish in the Rockies, and it is important to have a guide so that you do not waste fishing time.

BOW RIVER

Bow River flows from Banff National Park's Bow Lake through the mountains and widens into the large, fertile stream on the prairie.  What sets it apart from other rivers is the large size of wild brown and rainbow trout.  Heavy caddis and mayfly hatches allow for spectacular dry fly fishing.  A variety of birds and wildlife make an exciting trip for non-fishing partners. 16ft Lavro McKenzie drift boats designed for fly fishing are used and there is some fishing from the boat, but wading is the norm.

BANFF NATIONAL PARK

Banff National Park attracts more than three million visitors a year.  Many of its peaks tower over 9,800 feet, forming a magnificent backdrop to turquoise lakes.  Lake Louise, at the foot of glacier-clad Mount Victoria, is one of the park's most beautiful spots.  The town of Banff offers a wide variety of activities and restaurants, while Lake Louise is quieter.  Fishing can include dry fly fishing on the upper Bow River, hiking to high mountain lakes and streams, and trolling or spinning for trophy trout on Lake Minnewanka.

Crowsnest Pass in the Rocky Mountains of south-west Alberta along the American border has more than 500 miles of trout streams within a 50 mile radius, the Crowsnest River being the best known.  A number of trout lakes provide great float tube fishing.  Dry fly fishing can be enjoyed throughout the summer as there are prolific hatches of mayflies, caddis and stoneflies.
