Rio Grande
Tierra del Fuego - Sea Trout
Sea trout in the 6 - 25lb range are encountered daily with an average of 12lbs from December to mid-April and much larger fish a possibility - if you can land them. These fish, like sea trout anywhere, are not afraid to fight. Much of the fishing is done in daylight and can be nothing short of electrifying. The sight of large sea trout striking a surface fished fly is not easily forgotten.

Kau-Tapen Lodge
Kau-Tapen is the original fishing lodge on the Rio Grande. Built 20 years ago, it has revolutionized the way in which the fishing world views sea trout and and has made the Rio Grande a household name for fly anglers the world over. The lodge is located by the Rio Grande on the Estancia Retranca. The fishing at Kau-Tapen has been described as the finest sea trout fishing in the world. It has access to 16 km of the Rio Grande, and the fish average 12 lbs and can be as much as 30+ lbs. The lodge has access to both banks of the Rio Grande, where there is easy wading on fine gravel. Twelve rods, accommodated and the lodge is extremely comfortable with excellent food.

Villa Maria
Villa Maria is on the Estancia José Menéndez on the south side of the Rio Grande River. You will enjoy exciting fishing for fresh sea trout coming into the river. It has a 15 kilometre stretch of the Rio Grande, directly below Kau Tapen’s lowest pools. The lodge is a charming 1920’s vintage house and accommodates 6 anglers in comfortable surroundings with excellent food.

Far End Rivers - Irigoyen River
Since 2009 Untamed Angling have been catching and releasing sea trout on the Irigoyen River located 180 kilometres south of the city of Rio Grande in Tierra del Fuego. The rivers hold abundant populations of sea trout between 8 and 13lb with many fish in the 25-30lb range. The rivers are fairly well protected from the wind and single handed rods are the norm. The season runs between December and mid April and you will be wading 25 kilometres of private water.
Far End Rivers Lodge is very comfortable and accommodates up to 6 anglers in four twin bedded rooms with private bathrooms excellent international cuisine is served including wine, beer and soft drinks. The lodge is a three hour drive from Ushuaia, transfers are included.

Rio Gallegos
Southern Patagonia - Sea Trout
The Rio Gallegos is nearly 300 kilometres in length and has its origin in the southern Andes with two pristine and very beautiful streams, the Penitente and the Ruebens. The river is generally shallow and the wading is extremely easy. It is wonderful fly water and while nearly all pools can be covered with a one-hand rod, the two-hander is often useful when conditions are windy or dictate the use of larger flies.

Estancia Buitreras
10 rods are accommodated on a working estancia with five double and two single rooms with private bathrooms. The lodge is extremely comfortable and has an excellent wine cellar although local wine and beer is included with meals.
The Buitreras section of the Rio Gallegos includes nearly 50 named pools, on 40km of private water. The fishing is exciting and varied with pools ranging from deep, stony runs to cut banks and stream like, shingle flats. Two anglers per guide are transported to their assigned section of river in a 4wd vehicle. Beats contain 6-9 pools (depending upon water level) and are rotated each half-day. The Home Pool is situated a short distance from the Lodge and can be fished by guests at anytime. This pool is a tremendous fish producer and many fish has been captured by anglers who chose to forego their siesta!

Rio Santa Cruz
Steelhead
The Santa Cruz has strong runs of steelhead averaging 6-12lbs. The fish are bright chrome and take full advantage of the river's current and any flaw in your tackle. A few day's fishing here is an ideal add on to a holiday on the Rio Grande or Rio Gallegaos. There is one guide for two fishermen and guests are transported up and down the river in inflatable boats stopping for you to wade the pools. The current of the river is quite powerful but the river has an even bottom of small stones, it is well within the capabilities of anglers of normal wading abilities.

Estancia San Ramon
The Lodge overlooks the river. It is simple and has rooms with double beds, there are shared showers and toilets. Electricity is provided by a generaor. Good food is served.

La Zona - Dorado
If a big dorado is your target then there is no other place that can match the pedigree of La Zona which is the fishery on the Uruguay River downstream from the Salto Grande dam Since it opened in 2005, it has been on the forefront of dorado fishing breaking many world records. Fishing is permitted Friday through Monday only and the fishery is open year round, the peak season being between December and May. You will be fishing for Dorado in the 20-30lb range with 40lb fish not uncommon.
Fishing Seasons: high season - December 1 - May 15; extended season - May 16 - August 14; low season - August 15 - November 30
The lodge is located on an estancia just a few minutes away and has four comfortable double rooms with bathrooms. There is a swimming pool and good food is served, all wines and beer is included.
Price is per person sharing a twin room for 5 nights with 4 days fishing.

Dorado
The Dorado, a golden freshwater cousin of the salmon, is the premier game fish in the region. It strikes savagely, jumping up in the air and puts up an unforgettable fight.

The lodge is located on the Ibera Marshland, one of the most fascinating wetlands in the world. It has five rooms with private bathrooms, dining room, comfortable lounge and well stocked bar, and a swimming pool. You will be sight fishing for Dorado from a skiff.

Patagonia
Brown and Rainbow Trout
Dry fly, nymph and streamer fishing for wild browns and rainbows in good numbers and of good average size, conducted in remote areas of outstanding natural beauty, staying in lodges offering every comfort and convenience describes the best of Patagonia's trout fishing. To the west lie the Andes and their more verdant foothills, and from and through these flow the trout waters - big, brawling, clearwater rivers, medium-sized streams, and placid spring creeks. This area is special, with fishing as good as most would ever want - plenty of wild browns and rainbows up to 10lbs.

Estancia Huechahue 
Estancia Huechahue covers 15,000 acres in the foothills of the Andes and is a working cattle ranch. Guests are always welcome to join in with the everyday ranching. You will find brown and rainbow trout on the Alumine River. The river is not stocked and there are good populations of fish in the one to three pound range and reasonable numbers of three to five pounders. There is very little fishing pressure on the river. There is excellent bird watching.
The riding programme is tailored to the needs and abilities of those visiting the Estancia and is suitable for the expert horseman as well as the novice. You may choose to ride out every day or to co-ordinate your stay with one of the planned pack-trip departures into the fantastic Lanin National Park or a combination of both. The Estancia is very comfortable and there are 3 guest houses with a total of 8 twin/double bedded rooms with private bathrooms.

El Encuentro Lodge
El Encuentro Lodge on the Futaleufu River began guiding fishermen from all over the globe 18 years ago. The Lodge's proprietors Michael and Jane Beale have had extraordinary success with their guiding business. The Lodge is, and always has been, a family affair. Michael, a seasoned guide himself taught all 5 of his children about fly-fishing and wildlife. Each of them has had an integral role in the success of El Encuentro. The lodge accommodates up to 10 guests in 5 comfortable rooms with private bathrooms. Excellent meals are served.
In addition to fishing the Futaleufu River you will fish various rivers in Los Alerces National park such as the River Rivadavia and the River Frey. Another choice is the famous spring creek Arroyo Pescado; other waters are available depending on the length of your stay. Your fishing stay can be customized around you.

You will fish for trout on 9 miles of the Chimehuin River and 4 miles of the Quilquihue River.
