Kamchatka

Steelhead

One of the last great strongholds for steelhead is the Russian Kamchatka Peninsula, a 160,000 square mile wilderness, dotted with volcanoes and tundra meadows separating evergreen and birch forests that stretch to the horizon.  In this pristine wilderness, you will see dozens of rivers where fisherman have never wet a line.  The Wild Salmon Center is running a long term scientific project on the steelhead populations in some of the rivers in conjunction with the University of Moscow.  Fishermen will be helping to collect the data, by taking measurements and scale samples.

Guiding is by a mix of local hunting and fishing inspectors/guides and western guides from all over the world.
