Fishing In Labrador

Eagle River - Atlantic Salmon & Brook Trout

Labrador's Eagle River is world-renowned and is one of the top five Atlantic salmon rivers in North America.  It is known for its large, wild salmon up to 30lbs with an average of 10-15lbs.

Fishing Seasons: 1 July to 15 September

Recommended Stays:

Rifflin Hitch Lodge

Rifflin Hitch Lodge is accessible only by float plane.  Annual runs of salmon have increased dramatically following the restrictions placed on commercial fishing in Newfoundland and Labrador.  One guide is assigned to two fishermen and the pools are rotated daily.  There are no set fishing hours and you may fish from dawn until dusk as long as you are accompanied by a guide.

The lodge is in a beautiful location on the Eagle River and has seven double bedrooms with private bathrooms, a large sitting/dining room, library, a well stocked fly-tying corner, two screened porches, a hot tub and pool table.  Excellent food is served.

Hiking trails, canoeing, fly-outs by float plane for those who want to see whales and view the icebergs.
