Fishing in Ontario - We offer fishing in Rice Lake and Algonquin Park.

Rice Lake

Fishing Seasons: Speckled Trou - 25 April to 14 November (25 April to 27 June is Prime Time)

Carp - June to October (Carp are plentiful in Rice Lake with fish up to 60lbs.)

Elmhirst's Resort

Enjoy the privacy and luxury of your own cottage on Rice Lake, coupled with the opportunity to fly into fish remote lakes and rivers.  Peter Elmhirst has developed the carp fishing based around English coarse techniques learnt from visiting clients.  This resort has been owned and run by the Elmhirst family for over 100 years.  The main building houses two restaurants, a bar, indoor swimming pool with sun terrace, whirlpool, exercise room and games room.

You can fish for Carp, walleye, muskie, large and small mouth bass and bluegill on Rice Lake with fly-outs by float plane to remote rivers and lakes.

At Elmhirst's accommodation is in lakeside cottages with varying numbers of bedrooms/bathrooms, sitting room, kitchen/dining area, colour television, stereo system, ceiling fans, telephone and wooden deck with barbecue.
 

 

Other Activities

Sandy beach, swimming pool (indoor), sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing, motor boat hire, tennis, walking trails, bicycle hire, golf nearby, sightseeing flights and recreation programme in summer for families.

Algonquin Park

Algonquin Provincial Park (175 miles from Toronto) is renowned for its spectacular scenery, wildlife and some of the finest fishing in Ontario.  The park is home to many of Canada's native animals that can often be seen while out fishing or canoeing on one of the many lakes.

There are 2,000 lakes in the park with pike, lake and brook trout widely distributed throughout.  Small mouth bass, pike and walleye are in some lakes.  We have a list of lakes and species for those who travel to Algonquin with us.

Fishing Seasons: Lake & Brook Trout - 1 May to 15 September (May, June & September are prime times)

Small Mouth Bass - 21 June to 30 November

Walleye - 15 May to 30 November

Arowhon Pines

Arowhon Pines is a delightful lodge located within the boundaries of the park surrounded by native forest on the shores of Little Joe Lake.  Accommodation is in well appointed wood cabins with private bathrooms and decks overlooking the lake.  Excellent meals are served in the main dining room.

Algonquin Outfitters

Algonquin Outfitters offer you the chance to choose between a guided or self-guided canoe trip through the park along one of the many canoe trails.  The numerous lakes in the park are connected by short portage trails, which enable you to move from lake to lake with your canoe while camping in the designated camping areas.  Algonquin Outfitters will supply you with everything you require for the trip - food, tents, sleeping bag, cooking utensils and of course one of their world famous Swift Canoes.
