Pennsylvania

Trout
Pennsylvania boasts 10,000 miles of trout streams classified as either wild-trout or stocked waters and has much to offer the fly fisherman.  They range from picturesque mountain streams two to three foot wide, to large rivers like the Delaware.  We have chosen some of the best wild trout streams and rivers for you to fish.

ITINERARY
Day 1 Philadelphia
Arrive in Philadelphia, collect your car and drive to your hotel for one night.

There will be time to have a look at some of the key points of interest of this charming city - the first city of America.  There will be time to see the Liberty Bell and tour Independence Hall. Dine in one of Philadelphia's great restaurants.  Seven of the top 50 restaurants in America are located in Philadelphia.
Day 2 Lancaster and Carlisle
Approximately 123 miles - 2 hours
Drive to Carlisle via Lancaster taking Route 30.  Stop in Lancaster and visit the Amish Farm and House where you will gain an insight into the lifestyle of Lancaster's Amish People and how they have changed over the years.  Continue your journey to Carlisle where you will spend three nights with two days fishing for trout in some of the cool limestone waters of the area.
Days 3 & 4 Fishing
We suggest we arrange a guide for you for the first day so that you do not waste precious fishing time.  There are many streams to choose from but we would suggest a selection of the following: Le Tort Spring Run (which embraces much of America's fly fishing history and a challenging stream to fish), Big Spring Run Creek, Yellow Breeches Creek, Falling Spring Branch, Codorus Creek, Honey Creek and Willow Run.
Day 5 Carlisle to Center County
Approximately 40 miles - 1 hour
A comfortable drive from Carlisle through beautiful countryside will take you to one of Pennsylvania's best fishing areas.  Central Pennsylvania is a haven for tremendous mayfly hatches and large wild brown trout - who has not heard of Penns Creek, Spruse Creek and Elk Creek.  The streams are spread over quite a large area so we will arrange accommodation around the streams you would like to fish.  The streams we would highly recommend are Penns Creek, Spring Creek, Lower Bald Eagle Creek, Fishing Creek and Spruce Creek but there are many others to try.
Days 6 & 7 Center County
Fishing the streams of the area.
Then choose:
Day 8 Center County to Philadelphia
Approximately 144 miles - 2.5 hours
For those who are short of time, drive back to Philadelphia via Route 30 which will take you through Gettysburg and Lancaster.  It is well worth stopping in Gettysburg to visit the battlefields.
Or:
Day 8 Center County to Pike County
Approximately 182 miles - 3.5 hours
Take a scenic four drive to Pike County and to the town of Milford where you will stay for three nights.
Days 9 & 10 Fishing the West Branch of the Delaware River
There is about 30 miles of excellent fishing on the West Branch of the Delaware River and you can fish on both the Pennsylvania side and the New York State side of the river.

Again we would highly recommend a guide for at least one of your two days here.
Day 11 Milford to Philadelphia
Approximately 134 miles - 2.5 hours
Return to Philadelphia on Route 32, the drive is very scenic.  Drop off your car at the airport in time for your return flight to London.
