Hosted tripsFLY FISHING FOR BROWN TROUT, GRAYLING AND ARCTIC CHAR
AT RAJAMAA LODGE IN SWEDISH LAPLAND
HOST:
Magnus Angus of Fly Fishing and Fly Tying

Date: 21 August 2009
Fishing on the River Muonio (inset: grayling)
The rivers Konkama, Muonio and Tornio form the 540 km border between Sweden with Finland.  The lodge is built on an island in the River Muonio and has been owned by the Malmstrom family since 1986.  Rooms are in fully equipped chalets with private facilities and there is a restaurant with good food.  Here, some 200 km above the Arctic Circle, Lapland is at its best and cleanest, with deep forests, mighty rivers and mountains.  Old paths and small roads wind through the forests and along rivers.

There is excellent fly fishing for grayling and brown trout in the Muonio and good arctic char and trout fishing in some nearby lakes.  Because of the midnight sun you will be able to fish around the clock if you wish.  There are reasonable runs of Baltic Salmon and Sea Trout in the river which can be an added bonus to your fishing holiday.
