| Bonefish, Tarpon, Permit and Deep Sea Fishing |
| Belize is ideal for fishermen looking for an excellent mix of saltwater flats
and reef fishing. The country has a great deal to offer with its ruins from the Mayan
civilization, dense, uncharted jungle and shallow, crystal-clear coastal waters. |
 |
| Both Turneffe Island Lodge and Turneffe Flats have knowledgeable guides to
help you explore this vast fishery. Impressive numbers of bonefish of 3-7lbs (the
largest 12lbs), permit of 8-12lbs (the largest 30lbs) and tarpon 30-90lbs (the largest
130lbs) are caught year round, with the larger tarpon migrating past in May to August.
Snook also frequent the immense network of channels and flats, while kingfish, dorado,
sailfish, marlin, wahoo and tuna, as well as cubera snapper, shark, barracuda and jacks are
an ever-present bonus. |
