Gulfo Dulce - Bluewater & Game Fishing

Crocodile Bay is on the Peninsula de Osa and looks out at the Golfo Dulce in the south-west of Costa Rica.  The 'Osa' has been described by the National Geographic as 'the most ecologically intense place on earth' - quite a commendation.  Consistent annual water temperatures between 80 and 83F (26-28C) ensure that fishing along the coastline and flats boats fishing the estuaries is good all year.

Large numbers of marlin start to show up in July and roam the waters until the end of December.  July and August record the largest black marlin and blues are often taken during the prime sailfish months.  The roosterfish is one of the most exciting inshore and surf fish available - the volcanic shoreline holds them all year and 20 to 40 pounders are common.  Cubera snapper is the most popular of all the local snappers, due to its size and sheer strength.  Fish over 50lbs have been caught in the area year round.  The all-tackle world record snook came from these waters and there is fantastic surf and estuary fishing for four species of this feisty fish.

Fishing Seasons: Barracuda, Roosterfish, Sierra Mackerel, Snook & Trevally - All Year

Dorado & Tarpon - May to October

Marlin - July to December (July & August is Prime Time)

Sailfish - November to August (December to May is Prime Time)
