Grenada Sport Fishing - Marlin, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo and Dorado

Grenada is a lovely green Caribbean island located perfectly for sport fishing. The west coast is sheltered from the prevailing north-east trade winds and this means it is possible to go fishing every day in the blue waters of the Caribbean Sea.

The beautiful beaches, warm and sunny climate and a host of things to do, add up to an attractive place too for friends and family who may not wish to go fishing.

You will be fishing the Caribbean Sea off the west coast of the Grenada where the drop-off is dramatic. The 3000 feet contour is only two miles out in places so fishing starts only 20 minutes after leaving the dock. Most of the really big fish are caught around the 6000 feet contour and this is normally reached within an hour. Fishing in Grenada centres around blue marlin, which are present year round but numbers are greatest between October and March. The largest fish to date is 669lbs. Other species include white marlin, yellowfin tuna (some over 200lbs), sailfish, wahoo and dorado.

Fishing Seasons: All these major specimens peak in Grenada waters in the period from January to end of April.

Throughout the whole season from October to June some billfish are still possible complimented at all times by Dorado and Wahoo.

Light Tackle Fishing

If a break is needed from fighting the big ones, light tackle and bottom fishing from a small boat can be arranged. Spinning and bait fishing is possible from the rocks and in the dock.
