The Pemba Channel -  Sailfish & Bluewater Fishing

The Pemba Channel is widely known as one of the best places to fish for blue, black and striped marlin.  Sailfish, broadbill, mako, tiger and other sharks as well as wahoo, yellowfin tuna, dorado, giant trevally and many other lesser game fish frequent the waters.

Fishing Seasons:

Blue/White Marlin & Sailfish - November to March (January & February ar Prime Time)

Tuna, Wahoo, Dorado & Giant Trevally - All Year Round

Pemba Channel Lodge 

Pemba Channel Lodge is situated in the tiny village of Shimoni, 80km south of Mombasa with stunning views over the ocean and the neighbouring island of Wasini.  The club has a worldwide reputation and currently holds more than half of all Kenyan marlin records.  Comfortable cabins for two people are set in lush tropical gardens, each having a verandah with views of the sea.  The Clubhouse, its cosy lounge and well-stocked bar generate a friendly atmosphere - ideal for socialising and swapping the fishing stories of the day.  There is a freshwater swimming pool between the clubhouse and sea or you could swim off the jetty into the ocean and view an amazing array of coral.

Swimming, diving, snorkelling, safaris to the Shimba Hills, Tsavo National Park, Amboseli or the Masai Mara Game Reserve.

Hemingways - Watamu 

Hemingways is an internationally renowned centre for bluewater fishing.  The season runs from August to April and a constant flow of anglers come to fish for sailfish, marlin and a wide range of other sporting fish.  Up to 15 boats run out of Hemingways, daily, with experienced captains and crews and you can choose between fly or conventional fishing.

The hotel has 78 air-conditioned rooms with private bathrooms and lovely sea views.  There are two freshwater swimming pools and the food is excellent.
