Grimsa - Iceland
2nd - 6th July 2026
Nestled 100 kilometres north of Reykjavik, the Grimsa is a medium-sized river renowned for its scenic beauty and consistent fishing. Its 30 kilometres of fishable water include some 60 named pools, most easily reached by 4WD. Fishing is limited to just eight rods per day, ensuring a peaceful and rewarding experience.
Grimsa sees some of Iceland’s earliest salmon runs. Typically, around 1,000 salmon are landed each short season. A lake in the headwaters helps maintain steady flows throughout the summer—a major advantage over many neighbouring rivers. Sea trout begin arriving in late June, often in the 4–8lb range, with larger fish a possibility.
This is quintessential Icelandic light-tackle fishing, combining iconic pools, reliable runs of grilse and sea trout, and a lodge experience that perfectly complements your time on the river. Rare availability for a 4 day slot.
