The British Virgin Islands are a beautiful collection of Caribbean islands, each with its own character, spectacular scenery and relaxed atmosphere. With turquoise waters, white sand beaches and excellent fishing, they offer a wonderful combination of sport and island hospitality.

Anegada, the northernmost island, is particularly well known for its saltwater flats fishing. Unlike the mountainous islands elsewhere in the BVI, Anegada is low-lying and surrounded by extensive coral reefs, sheltered lagoons and mangrove flats. These waters provide excellent opportunities to target bonefish on the fly, with permit, tarpon and barracuda also present. Much of the fishing is done by sight, either wading the shallow flats or fishing from a skiff with an experienced local guide.

The island remains wonderfully peaceful and largely undeveloped, with quiet beaches, small settlements and a distinctly unhurried pace of life.

Virgin Gorda offers a lovely contrast and is an excellent choice for a few days' relaxation after fishing on Anegada. With beautiful beaches, sheltered bays and excellent accommodation, it is particularly well suited to couples and families. Offshore fishing for marlin, tuna, wahoo and other game fish can also be arranged.

Whether visiting primarily for the fishing or combining a few days on the flats with a relaxing Caribbean holiday, the British Virgin Islands offer something rather special.
