Iceland - Laxa i Adaldal & Reykjadalsa

Hosted by Charles Jardine

This late-August trip explores two of North Iceland’s most celebrated trout systems: the mighty Laxá í Aðaldal and the intimate Reykjadalsá. The primary focus is on large, wild brown trout, fished with dry fly and nymphs in clear water.

The programme is deliberately balanced. Early sessions are spent on the Big Laxá, where broad glides, classic pools and long, clear runs give anglers the chance to target truly big trout in iconic water. The latter part of the trip shifts focus to Reykjadalsá, a smaller river where careful presentation and good fly choice are rewarded with consistent dry-fly sport.

The group is limited to six anglers plus a host, fishing with three experienced local guides and enjoying the private use of a traditional Icelandic lodge throughout the stay. The group will stay at Árnes Lodge, the former salmon lodge at Nes. This is a comfortable and characterful base, well suited to fishing groups. It retains an authentic angling feel while offering the privacy and comfort needed after long days on the river.
