Join us for a week on the Pinware River in southern Labrador — one of Atlantic Canada’s most consistent and attractive salmon rivers. Flowing for more than 100 kilometres through forest and granite country before reaching the sea, the Pinware has clear water, well-defined pools, and varied conditions that make for engaging fishing throughout the season. The Atlantic Salmon Federation’s latest report notes strong salmon returns across Labrador, and the Pinware remains among the region’s healthiest and most reliable rivers.

We’ll stay at Big Land Lodge, a comfortable base a short walk from the river. It’s a relaxed, well-run camp with generous meals, local hospitality, and experienced guides who know every reach of the river. Days are spent fishing a mix of pools and side channels, reached by vehicle, ATV or on foot depending on conditions. Evenings are unhurried, with time to eat well and talk over the day.

Fishing is mainly with single- or double-handed fly rods, with both grilse and larger multi-sea-winter fish likely. The water is very clear, and small flies or light leaders often work best. The lodge follows a careful catch-and-release approach to protect the river’s strong stocks.

This hosted week is organised to make travel and logistics straightforward, leaving you free to focus on the fishing and the experience itself. It suits anyone who enjoys thoughtful, well-guided salmon fishing in a quiet and natural setting.
