TARPON CAYE

Tarpon Caye Lodge is a small, traditional fishing lodge situated on a private island in the Victoria Channel, approximately 30 minutes by boat from Placencia. Surrounded by shallow flats, mangrove islands and productive channels, it offers excellent saltwater fly fishing in a wonderfully peaceful setting.

The area is particularly renowned for its permit fishing, with opportunities to stalk these challenging fish across the surrounding flats. Bonefish are also present, while the nearby lagoons and channels provide exciting opportunities for tarpon. Barracuda, jacks and snapper offer additional sport, making this a particularly varied fishery.

Fishing can be arranged with experienced local guides, who have an intimate knowledge of the surrounding waters. There are also opportunities for independent fishing, making Tarpon Caye especially appealing to anglers who enjoy exploring at their own pace.

Accommodation is in just three simple but comfortable private cabanas, each with its own bathroom and balcony overlooking the Caribbean Sea. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal, with excellent home-cooked Belizean food, including fresh local seafood.
