Outside the principal migratory season, Holbox offers excellent opportunities for smaller resident tarpon, which inhabit the sheltered mangrove creeks, lagoons and backcountry waters throughout the year.

These fish provide wonderful sport on lighter tackle, often in beautiful, intimate surroundings. Snook are another important target, with fish found around mangrove edges, channels and other sheltered areas.
