BAHAMAS
With over 700 islands spread over 750 miles of tropical ocean, the Bahamas has much to offer. Alongside saltwater fly fishing, the region also offers great big game fishing and a wealth of activities for non-fishing companions. Besides bonefish, the Bahamas flats are home to barracuda, permit, tarpon and mutton snapper. Most of the more developed islands offer big game fishing for blue and white marlin, broadbill swordfish, tuna, dorado and other species.
ABACO
The Abaco Islands is a cluster of islands covering 650 square miles with excellent bonefishing. This chain of islands and cays, divided loosely into North, Central and South Abaco is a flats fishing paradise.
ACKLINS
Acklins Island neighbours Crooked Island. The fishing around Acklins is also remote and offers many flats accessible from the shore.
ANDROS
At 104 miles long, Andros is the largest of all the Bahamian Islands. It has a well-earned reputation for bonefishing. The average bonefish here is 4-6lbs, with many up to and over 10lbs. The flats also support jacks, tarpon and barracuda.
CROOKED ISLAND
Crooked Island is excellent for flats fishing. Fishing pressure is light and on the flats you can catch big bonefish, tarpon, permit, barracudas and sharks.
LONG ISLAND
Brilliant coral feers, pristine flats and serene beaches make Long Island a haven for fishing, diving and boating.
MAYAGUANA
The most south-easterly island of the Bahamas, Mayaguana has a population of only 400. It has maintained much of its quaintness and has a laid-back atmosphere. Explore the wilderness in search of large bonefish and permit.
THE EXUMAS
Renowned for their sapphire-blue waters, Exuma Cays, Great Exuma and Little Exuma make up this enchanting chain of islands that features some of the best beaches and world-class salterwater flats and offshore fishing.
